Most people believe that making hard boiled eggs is as easy as dipping the eggs in water, putting the heater on and waiting for the eggs to get ready. Sadly, such a crude approach will never give you the sweet eggies you had anticipated to eat. One might not believe this, but there is surely an art to making boiled eggs to the tastes you will love.
To get the eggies which are not only up to your taste but also easy to peel, one should make sure the eggs are a few days old. It is often advisable to buy the eggs around five days before the day they are to be used. Often, hard-boiling of freshly obtained farm eggs will make your eggies hard and difficult to peel. Putting them in the refrigerator for a few days will help one solve this problem. However, hard-cooking of fresh eggs may allow easy peeling of the eggies if steaming is used instead of boiling. Steaming for approximately 20 minutes will make even fresh eggs peel easily.
Preparation approach
The first step involves placing the eggs in a single layer within a sauce pan and covering with cold water to at least an inch or two. Beginning with cold water prevents the eggs from cracking ensuring you get aesthetically good eggies. Addition of a teaspoon of will also help in avoiding cracking of the boiled eggs as well as making peeling easier. The burner is then placed high and as soon as the water begins to boil, the pan is removed from heat for some few seconds.
The heat is then turned to low and the pan returned onto the burner. The eggs are then left to simmer for a single minute.
After the minute, the pan is removed from the heat, covered and left to simmer for approximately 12 minutes. Often ten minutes is enough but may take longer as a result of diverse shape of the pan, eggs or other variables. This also eliminates the possibility of overcooking.
Lastly, either remove the boiled eggs using a slotted spoon and put them in an ice-water bowl or strain the remaining water from the pan and refill with cold water. One may restrain to ensure the eggs cool further. Once cooled, the eggs should be stored in a container and stored in the refrigerator.
Having followed these procedures, your eggies are now ready for consumption and very easy to peel.
